Default wheels 2000 thin spoke

are 2000-2004 thin spokes the exact same wheels?

Yes and no......

There are actually at least 2 types used for the 2000-2004, forged and casted.

The look nearly identical, but the casted are just slightly thicker looking and the forged are slightly thinner with more edge. (if that makes sense)

Also they forged were used to do the polished aluminum rims and the casted were the plain jane silver powder coated rims.

so , 2000 polished thin spokes, should be interchangeable with 2002 polished?

I believe that all vette wheels from 1997 thru 2004 are interchangable.

2000 spokes are different then 2001-2004. 2000s are thinner.

Did you buy from the dealership or an aftermarket vendor?
Did you buy a chrome rim or a polished aluminum rim?

The 2000-2004 front wheels are virtually identicle. The 2000 rear wheels are thinner than the 2001-2004.

To make matters more confused the 2000 wheels came in both versions, I believe. Early polished = thin, late polished = "thick". All unpolished are the same. That said, you really have to know what you are looking for to see the difference. 99% of the average folks wouldn't see the difference if you pointed it out to them, unless maybe the two wheels were side by side. The spoke is an 1/16" or so thinner and the radius of the attachment point is just a bit less rounded. There were some really good pics of the differences on the forum several years ago, but they are probable archived...

mine was built 4/26/2000 maybe i will get lucky . i only needed 1 front and 1 rear, but since i found 4 at good price from a corvette forum member , i bot all 4. i will find out early next week when i get my 4 wheels and compare
i just remembered today that i thought there might have been a difference between 2000 and others, after i sent money order yest . oh well , live and learn
worst case i put all 4 2002 rims on the car and sell 2 good 2000 rims somewhere

The differences are obvious to us, but the general average joe wouldn't notice.

These are Y2K

These are -01 to -04

You can see the edge of the wheel is much thinner on the later version and the spoke is thicker.

I believe you are looking at an 18 inch FORGED rear rim (looks thinner cause it's larger rim and forged) and a 17 inch front rim (looks thicker cause is smaller and casted)

....FYI......there are two types of rims for 2000-2004 years, they are not thinner or thicker due to the year, they are thinner or thicker due to one being FORGED (Thinner and more edge) and one being CASTED (thicker and slightly rounded)......

If the FORGED are chromed by aftermarket they are thinner but chromed with more edge, if the powter coated (CASTED) rims are chromed by aftermarket they look thicker but still chrome.

I just had a rim replaced myself and the dealership went through 4 different chrome rims trying to find a match, I know cause I used this forum to do the research, and the difference is not in the year, it's in the fact that some are FORGED and some are CASTED which make them look thinner or thicker, plus the front rims on the vette natually look a little thicker due to it being 17 inches and not stretched out like the 18 inch rear rim.

Speedline was the maker of the CASTED, and I don't remember who GM got to produce the FORGED......do a little more research and confirm what I'm telling you, don't just take my word for it.
