Went out this morning to run some errands and the car is dead.
I mean nothing lit up. Took the DD for the run and came
back to jump start. Took a while but started.
After a while I closed everything down while I checked the wires
and connectors. Shut the door and the lights are still on.
Simple problem and I'm glad it wasn't something I had to run down
because electrical gremlins are the worst.
A reminder to all...Check the water in your battery. Most people never
think of it but they are not maintenance-free. At least not since they
switched back from the AGM batteries.
Battery Run-Down Protection
Your vehicle has a feature to help prevent you from
draining the battery in case the underhood lamp, vanity
mirror lamps, cargo lamps, reading lamps, console or
glove box lamps are accidentally left on. If you leave any
of these lamps on, they will automatically timeout after
about 15 minutes. To reset it, all of the above lamps must
be turned off or the ignition key must be in ON.

My bedroom is right next to my garage and I can't tell you how many times I've opened the hatch on the Vette accidentaly when moving my keys around. But never have I had the battery drain because the interior lights were on. They go out by themselves as others have said. Sounds like you have some other problem with the electrical system.

Same here. Not to mention the times I accidently hit the "panic" button...

I agree. They should go out in approximately 15 minutes of no other activity. If your's is not doing this, then you should get it checked out before your battery continues to go dead.

I think all C5s have this. My 99 Camaro did and my 2000 Vette does
