Autocross question......Helmet
What type of helmet is required? does it have to be Snell approved, or can a D.O.T. approved helmet be used? Thanks, Greg

Usually has to be Snell and usually SA rated. Best to check with the organization you will be racing with

Check with the organizer/club/etc. Once you find out the minimum requirement, find out what the best standard is and go that way. The helmet is to protect YOUR head after all.

For this year NCCC requires Snell 95 or newer. Next year nothing allowed over 10 years from its manufacture date. Just has to be Snell not SA. SCCA will accept a non SA helmet also.

Snell 95 or newer, but I think after this year Snell 95 is no good.
Our local autox organizers always have extra helmets handy.

CCM requires SA or M95 or newer (SA00). When SA05 becomes available , 95's no longer accepted.
