The CLB will work and keep the column from locking, however if your CLB looses sync with the BCM then it can cause your computer to shut your fuel off and you'll be stuck...that's all the latest GM recall does for the MN6
I know this SUCKS. My CLB is on the way, I figured I would be safe both ways, have the recall done and do the CLB..I seemed to have missed this important detail in the Bible of column lock threads

I put my CLB in my '98 MN6 yesterday and it was a breeze. The toughest part is snapping the panel back into place (patience, patience...) Corvettes of Houston told me that it should work just fine. I also read somewhere that if you get the recall done before you install the CLB, there can be some issues with the BCM. As a precaution, I carry a T15 torx driver and the column lock cig lighter adapter with me. That way if I get stranded again, I may, and emphasize MAY be able to unlock the damn thing.

My '01 MN6 locked up yesterday at work. My dealer unlocked it and performed the recall work this morning. The CLB is on its way from COH and I'll be installing it this weekend.

I had the recall done after I had already installed the CLB. Took the CLB off, took car to dealer, had recall done, then reinstalled the CLB. Absolutely no problems with the CLB working.

Just curious. Why would you do the recall after installing the CLB?

from all ive read, there is no need to do the recall if you install the bypass.Other than you wont get any more mail from GM to get it done.I did the bypass and thats it.Dont want any dealer touching the car, unless i have to.
