Default I gotta vent ! doesnt get it

I pulled the Vette out of the garage for the first ime in weeks (the sun finally came back out) Anyway, driving the short 4 miles back from lunch & I see a dump truck coming at me on the 2 lane highway...I slow way down & almost stop & the A$$*&^% flys by & sand flys all over the Frickin car. I just can't seem to win. Drive the other car & none of this **** happens..Anyway...the sun is out today

I kow how you feel. I hate it when 18 wheelers pass me up going 80 and I actually try to "scan" the road in front of them for possible NWAs (Near Windshield Objects). But, the feeling I get when I'm driving her is too good to think about that all the time!

With my luck it would have been a gravel truck! I always seem to get stuck behind those gravel trucks...dropping stones that end up bouncing up on the windshield no matter how far back I try to stay. Those HUD windshields get pretty expensive! I have heard as much as $1800. I have 3 small chips already. Just waiting for the "BIG ONE" to come bouncing my way to make a claim with the insurance company

Happened to me not 30 minutes ago, driving my garage queen home from work (2000 MY vert). I bought it this past February. First time. Sunny almost all the way home then, three, four blocks from my house....pouring down rain! Drove under the garage door even before it was full open. I'm wondering if she'll ever trust me agin?

I remember couple of years when I had my 2000 Camaro SS I had an incident that this thread remind me of. This SS was in a pristine condition, I took very good care of it, no blemishes on paint at all.

One very sunny afternoon, I took the SS out for a drive, got on the 3 lane highway, I'm on middle lane and enjoying the sun and and wind, and all of sudden, this pickup truck with some sort of load in his truck bed speeds up and gets in front of me and he slows down a bit. At this time, I'm trying to move over to right lane, didn't want to get stuck behind a pickup truck with junk in his bed, but there was a car right next to me keeping up with me.

So, I slow down a bit to get behind the car on my right, however, it was too late. A piece of barb wire from this p/u truck's bed flies out and hits my hood and slid, finally hitting my windshield before hitting the road. Friggin p/u truck continued his merry way and I knew I had to sustain some sort of scratches from that barb wire, but how am I going to prove that it came his truck even if I could get that retard to stop, so I said to myself, screw it and got home.

When I inspected the hood, my fear of scratches were correct, had several scratches, I ended up having the hood repained for $500, paying for it myself.

MY, my car is a "queen" as well. Couldn't tell in the parking lot at work if the sand left any marks..I sure hope not. I still can't believe these idiots don't cover their trucks, this guy knew the sand was flying all over the place. I would cover my 4x4 bed if i had sand in it so as not to disrespect anyone else property. I must be "old School"

Just bought a brand new G35 coupe.. Less than 2 weeks into it and not even 500 miles, then yesterday a junk hauler dropped something off the flatbed (didn't see for sure what it was) and hit the leading edge of the hood.

Put a dent and scraped the paint off an area about the size of a golf ball. Sounded like I hit a concrete wall. Crap continued to fall off here and there while I'm hitting the brakes and diving to the right lane for 1st exit to get out of the way of this moving menace.

Beautiful Black mirror gloss paint on it.... Now..what to do? What to do? Have it feather sprayed, or do the whole hood and HOPE no Orange peel shows up on it.

Unfortunately, the only way to avoid "road hazards" is to stay off the road! There are any number of calamities that can occur when you are sharing the road with other vehicles.

So......either leave the car at home, buy yourself a private highway system, or roll with the punches!

By the way, in VA loads must be covered. That doesnt always work, especially with something like sand however.

Ain't that something? Last Saturday, I spent 6 hours cleaning and detailing my Black Pearl, and Sunday, I go with the wife and sister in law to the water park in town. I park waaay down deep in the parking lot, away from all other cars, go in, spend the day, and when I come out, some "nice person" had decided my baby looked hungry, so they bought a $5.00 Italian sub and tried to feed the car...

They had smeared the sandwich all over the passenger side door and window, and dripped mayo/tomato juice on the hood.:

I wasn't even mad about it, and actually kept a sense of humor, especially when I saw the deep key scratches they put on the Toyota Corolla next to my baby.

I just went and brought to the attention of the park manager that if this type of stuff is going on in the parking lot in the middle of the day with all the cars and potential witnesses, they might consider stepping up their security forces, especially before there is a real serious incident, like rape, abduction, murder, etc.
