I can't find any reference to banging up the 63 car in practice. I did see where O'Connell lost the front brakes at the end of Mulsanne(sp?) and had to use the runoff road, but no damage to the car. Is that what you're referring to?

Probly so......what I read said they were "continuing to work on/repair the #63 after he went straight at the Mulsanne". I just assumed he crunched it!
Maybe they should have stuck with the best Corvette ever- The C5.(R)
I've been meaning to ask y'all why the exhaulted C6 has done such a poor showing on the race circuit? It's tough to watch them anymore as they can't seem to get out of their own way. I only wish I had tape the last few C5 seasons to revell in our success. Maybe the reason the price tag stayed the same or went down on the C6 is because the only change was in the plastic. There's always next year. I just hope we don't lose our driving talent by then.
It takes time to get everything worked out in a new car.. im sure the c5 wasn't perfect on the track right away either....
Actually, the 2000 C5-R was the 'first time out' and they came in 10th and 11th overall. Pretty good when you consider '01 they came in 8th and won their class.
Gran Toursimo 4 players will recognize many of the cars - no C6 in the game though ...although I don't mind still seeing my 2000 in the game.

I'm sorry, but we still have the excellent team we had before, i watched some of their pit strategies in Sebring and no questions we have a better team than the Austin Martins. The AM is one heck of a powerfull car, however if you remeber at Sebring we had them beat until we broke the brakes and wrecked, we then spent the last 4 hours or so catching up!
I'm not worried about the Austin Martins, as long as we can keep our cars off the walls, I think we've got a great shot at this race!
I'm sick of seeing the C5 to C6 argument, the C6r is an upgraded version of the C5r period. Of course it's going to take a little time to get the new platform zero'd in, but the C6r will take the spotlight over the C5r within a season or two.

Stangkiller (great handle) you are so right. Our 'team' got us to P1 in class by the end of the first hour with a 'pitsop for the ages' . They enterred the pits nose to tail behind the Ferrari...out in first.
...apparetnly they tested there...gathered data...tested there and tried things...gathered data...and over the two weeks came up with a good setting for the race.
The Ferrari did get back around the C6 within 15 minutes...and then we blew a tire while faaaarrrr away from the pits.
...these things can happen to the competition too.
I saw a report where C6 design engineers asked the C5-R racing team how they could make the C6 better for racing over the C5...and the team gave them a list of 4 or 5 things to which the C6 engineers came through with all of them. Two of which being the rear diffuser and the large openning in the nose for air rather than the two little slits of the C5. They claim that the improvements made the C6 a much improved race car.
