WooHoo! Finally!!!!
I finally got around to getting started on my NOS install. Got my CD changer moved over to the small passenger side compartment and got the bottle installed in the main compartment. Royal PITA getting the bottle mounted well and in a position where I can still put the lid back on......but I got 'er done!
Now I've just gotta run the lines tomorrow and I'm in there!!!!

Gonna fire it up with a 75 shot for testing on the stock plugs (NGK TR55's) and injectors (26# on my '99). If all goes well and the autotap looks good I'm gonna install my NGK TR6's (one range cooler) and the 28# injectors I have and bump it up to a 125 shot, and that's where it'll stay.......

Depends on what you get. I got the NOS5177 kit, which is a dry kit and safely good for 125 hp (doesn't tap into fuel system, shoots into airbox and relies on the MAF to adjust the fuel/air mixture).....the NOS kit runs about $550.....but then you need some other stuff like a window switch to only spray at your desired RPMS for safety of your motor's sake (~$200) and a purge kit (~$75).....so about $800 or so at a minimum. Then there's options like a remote opener for another $200 and bottle heater (not really necessary in SoCal though) for another $200.....
So.....about $1000 if you want a nice setup......up to a 125 shot.....but that's cheap for supercharger type power!
How much does it cost to fill the bottle?
About $40-50
Where do you fill it?
Most speed shops......in San Diego I know JBA fills them.
How quickly does it empty (i.e. in one 'shot')? When NOS is installed will the fuelrail covers fit?
Takes about 1 pound per all out 1/4 mile run......so a 10lb bottle like I have will go 10 runs. On a dry kit like mine you don't do anything under the fuel rails so that's not an issue. I'll post more pics when I'm done later today......
BTW, looks like you did a great insulation job. How hard was it to move the CD changer over?
Thanks!
..rickko..
Moving the CD changer was pretty easy.....just had to pull the right rear wheel to drill new holes for mounting in the little compartment and then getting my hand in there to fasten the bolts was kinda tight....but it was only about an hour job.......
If you get 1# per 1/4 mile you are way luckier than I was. I ran a 100 wet shot on my T/A when I first got it and I was lucky to make a 10# bottle last 1 mile total. But it cost me $30 to re-fill (with tax). I had the NX N2O kit that sprayed fuel & N2O into the MAF. Great fun, but wasn't my cup o' tea. I sold it and hope to supercharge someday.

Yep....you can go through all the gears. In fact you can install micro switches to prevent it from engaging in any gear you want.....ie I'm installing one to prevent 1st gear engagement.....but then it will be spraying from 2nd through whenever I shut it off. And that's why a window switch is important.....if you miss a gear or over rev it will shut off the nitrous too.....saves the motor in case of driver error....
I don't plan on drag racing my vette so if I installed it on my car could it be used for a couple of seconds on the street to impress someone?
Sure.....but it's frowned on by our local LEO's.....don't get caught!
Can it be used at say 70mph on wideopen lonely the freeway to do an ultra quick pass of someone?
Absolutely.

Well......I wimped out....running the lines took a bit of time......another PITA. I still have the electrical to do, but I'm done for this weekend. I've got a 4 day weekend next weekend....I'll finish it then........
More pics of the lines.....not as clean as I hoped.....but I'll work on cleaning it up after I get it working......
Through firewall behind battery....
Into passenger compartment. I then tucked it under the door sill.....totally invisible all the way back to the bottle after I put it all back together....
UP to the intake......
Installed in the Vararam.....
Vararam back in.....
And here's where I called it a day, got the solenoids installed behind the Vararam, but I need to pretty them up and connect them electrically....

A California question, when complete will your setup pass a smog test or do you have to install the stock air box when its time to smog it?
Thanks!
..rickko..
Nope......although the 5177 kit IS CARB legal in F-bodies......it is not in Corvettes. Another of the idiocies of our beloved CARB.....
So.....the obvious parts of the NOS kit (bottle, solenids, lines to the intake) will come out for smog. That should be a quick one hour R&R job though. Heck.....technically even the Vararam is smog illegal (no CARB number)......but I've never heard of anyone failing because of it. I've got 1 1/2 years until I'm due for a smog......so I'll worry about it then.....
