Default Vert Rear Glass Window

Hey Guys,

Driving into work today I realized that either overnight or over time the rear glass window has come apart from the convert. top.

Has this happened to anyone or do you have any suggestions on getting it fixed not including replacing the entire top.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

Mine fell out completely one day as I was washing/drying the vette. I found a shop that glued it back in for me and so far all is well. It's been about a year now. If it hasn't fallen all the way out, it should be easier to glue back in

If you don't mind me asking ... about how much to you pay to have it glued back on. I got some estimates today and they are saying like 900-1100 Canadian. That seems out to lunch to have a window glued back into place.

Wow, that's a ton of money! That's about 1/3rd the price of a brand new top isn't it?

Well its about 1400 Canadian plus labour for a brand new top. So it says outrageous to me.

They are saying they have to remove the top to reseal it. Does that seem odd or are they correct in that ??

I don't remember how much, but I DO remember it was alot less than what a top was going to cost me! The top was left in when it was glued back.

I did mine myself, I used JB weld on it and did it with the top on the car.
it's been about a year now and it's still looking good, only cost a few dollars for the epoxy.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

I was thinking of 3M Dual Sided Adhesive tape.

You think that would be strong enough to hold it in place ??

I would suggest Goop, or silicone sealant if you can find a way to clamp it. But try the tape. Worst that can happen is it doesn't work. How much area are you looking at?

Happened to my son's 2000 vert and he had it re-glued with the top on. Lives in central NJ and I believe it cost him about $150. Holding fine after a year.

After calling a ton of places, I finally found someone that can do it. I had suggestions for replacing the top (From a dealer of course) to removing the top and rebonding it. Most places wouldn't touch it but I finally realized I didn't call Canada's largest Glass company.

Apple Auto Glass has a shop no more then 5 minutes from me and they also do convertible tops/upolestry and they will do it for $125.00CA.

He said it works 95% of the time and if it doesn't work the first time they will do it for free the second, thrid, fourth .... etc ... etc till it works.

Thanks for the input guys.

Mine happened to me about 2 years ago. I used plain old Krazy Glue and it's still holding strong.
