only thing though, is back when i worked at chevy dealer we had a customer do that to his car and then kept bringing it in for high speed wind whistle (kinda like blowing across a coke bottle) and turned out to be those itty bitty holes, taped them up and noise went away. not warrantied. 
the covers make sense to me. at least my C5's mirrors arent as bad as my fiance's 2005 Sebring. those things will decide to drain a pint of water apiece when u get on the throttle hard....hahaha oh well.
