Default Must Read on Corvette Win

The Speed Channel website has been publishing Johnny O’Connell’s Postcards from Le Mans. This is the last one and in my opinion is a must read. You can also link to the other Postcards.

http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/roadracing/17729/

Johnny O is a class act and one heck of a racer. I wish him well on his Corvette Camp www.corvettecamp.com .

He also has some great high performance driving tips on his website http://www.johnnyoconnell.com/

Interesting reading. I tried to stay up and watch the entire race on the speed channel but fell asleep at 4 am The race was pretty much give and take between the Astin Martins and the Vettes. My neighbor just got a new DB 9 a few months ago. We were comparing his car to my vette. The DB 9 is one sexy beast thats for sure. He told me that I'll have to drive it, I said.. KEWL! I can do that!..I think he paid umm close to $170k for it.. I will be carefull

That's a great story. And the pic of the C6R going under the Dunlop tire is awesome!

Is South Carolina too far? First event is at Carolina Motorsport Park. I'm driving 12 hours to get there as I don't want to miss the first ever!

Trail Boss, Just plain Thanks. That was a great read. Thank you very much for the link. My wife and I met Johnny and had a lot of opportunity to talk with him about the Corvette, the Corvette lifestyle and the C6-R at the C5/C6 birthday bash at the museum and the Corvette racing banquet this past April. He is one class act. He took so much time to talk with us and just really cared what we had to say. I can't say enough good things about the whole organization. Not to say any less about Doug Fehan, Ron Fellows, Gary Pratt and Gary Claudio whom we also got to spend time with. But your story was about Johnny O. Here's a shot of my wife with Johnny O from the bash.

I can't work out the logistics for this year. We're a couple of those vacation challenged people. I'm looking into it for next year. We will be driving the Corvette to Bowling Green just a few weeks prior for the Labor Day celebration and in November we all ready had a vacation to Hawaii (not complaining mind you ) booked so that about kills any chance of getting the car south for the camp from up here in Massachusetts. We planned out the vacation for almost the whole year back over the winter. The camp looks pretty so I'll have to try it.

Sorry you can't make it. Make time for it next year. It will be like no other Track Day -- a real blend of driving school, a track day and as a topper, interaction with Johnny O' !
