Default NJ state inspection question with headers

Any guys from Jersey put long tubes on the car and still pass state inspection? I have an 01 and would like to eliminate the pup cats (but I guess there needed to heat the cats) and put long tubes on with a Z06 exhaust

In Texas they hook up to the PCM and do not make a visual inspection. My 01 has headers and all the O2 sensors give readings that are within limits, thus passing. So, I'd guess if you are not or have not had any codes pop up, it will probably pass. Not being a Texas expert, I will certainly monitor this post to see what others have to say.

Does Jersey shove the sniffer up your tailpipe? If so, then you at least need to get some high flow cats. They should be enough to pass the test once the car is warmed up.

Bring it to your local shop and ask them. I believe that they just hook it up to the computer and as long as there are no codes you are good to go.
