Default WTF Driver side electrochrom mirror $300

So, I bought the car used. New tires, HUD, Z51, Chromic whateveryoucallems, etc. etc. etc. and they are cool for the most part. However, the mirror on the driver side seems like it was bent or something to the point that there are seams under the surface that are very minor to someone that doesn't drive a Vette. BUT, to someone like me, it is a big nag. So, I went to the $tealer (Bud Allen in Hayward, CA)and they said it is $300 just for the glass. The regular glass that does not change shades is $106. Why is Corvette mirror glass so expensive? I don't know. I would like to get the part, I pretty much have to since I am lightweight Obsessive Compulsive with the Vette. I just need to know if this price is crazy to some of you as well.

Thanks for the help letting me vent,

Ray
P.S. I think it is easier (financially) to own a Vette in a place outside of the Bay Area, or maybe out of California.

3 words ... Corvette Tax and Stealership.

Next, I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it, but if you have heated mirrors, that could be a factor? Or maybe that's just a reason to charge Corvette Tax. Either way, going to the stealership is your first mistake ....

You have the internet ... use it and save yourself a bunch of $$$. Check the parts section here ... someone may have one laying around.

PS- Corvette Tax is international. Sorry.

i think fred beans usually has better prices on oem parts. When i was replacing my engine (before i decided to have A&A build me one) I had been quoted $8,000 for an ls1 from a local mech. $7,000 for a ls1 from the local chevy dealership, and; if i remember correctly, something like under $4,000 for an ls2 from fred beans.

try them

The elctrochromatic mirrors are costly on a lot of cars not just Vettes, on some cars you can't just buy the glass but have to buy the whole assembly.

atleast I got a new manual for $15.
I only asked the Stealer since I was there. Just wanted to see how bad the price really was. Thanks for the replies guys.
