Broken clutch return spring...commonplace?

Broken clutch return spring...commonplace?
Got home the other day and noticed half of the clutch return spring at my feet. I was just interested in finding out if this has been an issue for other owners. The car is an '01 and is not raced or driven too hard. I do however have to acknowledge the wonderful service department at Garber Chevrolet in Midland Michigan. The car is not under warranty but they still felt inclined to replace the part with absolutely no cost to me. They also allowed me the use of a 2005 Equinox at no charge because the part had to be overnighted to them. I know I am gushing but I've never had such a great experience from a dealership of all places.

I will NEVER go back to my dealer, except for the occasional part.
