Finnaly got my car today. A 00 hard top - black on black. 44K miles. Paid $22.5K.
Only mod is a BB triflo exhaust. Otherwise its all stock. The guy told me that its also lowered. It does look kinda low. Don't know how to actually gauge if its lowered or not. I have no reason to not believe him.
I have always driven automatics. This is my first manual transmission. AM getting used to it very fast.
One thing I noticed - when am taking off on first gear a slow pace, a little sign comes on on the gauge that reads "1 to 4 shift". When I speed up a little more, it disappears. Does anyone know what that means?
Also, I have a pretty dumb question: The guy would let his dogs ride in the car, in the back trunk area. There is dog hair all over the carpet and it wont come out. I tried to vacumm it, and tried one of those lint brushes. No luck. Its ingrained in the carpet. Has anybody had the same problem? Am thinking a good carpet shampooing would do the trick. Am curious if anyone here has dealt with a similar problem and how you solved it.
Am thinking if it would be possible to order the carpet for the whole back part of the car and install it. Has anybody done this before?
Other than that, the car is great.
Thanks.

Well well well. So you got the Vette after all. Congratulations.
By default, the computer forces a 1 to 4 shift unless you take it above 3K rpm's or so. I believe it's because of gas mileage requirements. There's a device that bypasses that control and I'm sure some MN6 owners will chime in and tell you more about it.
the 1st to 4th light is your cags system, under 2000 rpms in 1st it forces you to shift into 4th, it's so the car complies with gas guzzler law. It can be modified by buying a cags eliminator about $20, as far as the dog hair try masking tape...and congrats on the purchase
Congrats on the new Vette. I have had mine for under 2 months now and love it as much as the day I got her.
Regarding the carpet, there are some mats that go in the rear cargo area that may work just as well as replacing the carpeting. Here is a link from Corvettes of Houston, one of the supported vendors:
Regarding the height, it is hard to say without pics, but if it looks lowered it probably is. Depending on the suspension, some people joke about the 4x4 look on an un-lowered vette.
The CAGS bypass is very quick to install too. Another common bypass is the Column Lock Bypass. This is pretty much a must-have, especially for all of us Manual Transmission owners.
Welcome to the Corvette family

Welcome to the "club". I know what you mean re: the rear carpet....I had some small stranded wires in mine from a stereo install and they were tough to get out. There is almost always a guy or two on e-bay selling complete rear carpet sets also. Do the CAGS and the CLB for sure. Then I"m sure you will catch the Mod-fever. Have fun!
Congrats on the new FRC. Don't know what you are vacuuming with but my big sears shopvac will suck up just about anything. You may just not be using the right tool.
