Went to start my '04 Z this morning, and the battery was toast. No juice. Any suggestions? I didn't leave any lights on, or the radio (which shuts off after several minutes anyway). My V1 was plugged in the cigarette lighter though and was on, but that can't possibly draw enough current to drain a battery overnight, could it?
Same thing happened to me last week. The battery crashed so quickly I thought I had toasted a module of some sort. There was never a sign of a problem until I attempted to start the car one morning and everything shut down...not even enough juice to run the clock. I charged the battery on low amps for 24 hours with no luck. Replaced it over the weekend and everything is back to normal.
I've never had a battery fail like this one did. Needless to say, a Delco did not go back in. I hope that's all your problem is.
Unfortunately it happens. Usually with extreme heat or cold. I've lost more than one battery in the same fashion in other cars. I'd say have it tested before you replace it to be sure. If your car is an 04 I'd think warranty would cover it...
Goes like every car battery. ACDelco is a great battery. Get the 7yr.profesional sealed battery. Keep it on a battery tender plus, your worries are over.
Common problem, happened to me on my '03.Car was a year old in the garage and just would'nt start.Jumped it,took to dealer and they installed a new battery.Said was a problem they are aware of.These are the things that are irritating with a vehicle at this price point.
My '01 usually craps out a battery every 6-8 months.I always try to unplug my Valentine all the time.Luckily I have only paid for 1 of the batteries and the rest were always replaced for free since they were under 18 months old.Another annoying problem that GM knows about but has no answer. No wonder they are in deep ****.
This happened to me too last month. Had nothing to do with heat or cold. Had been driving the car throughout the day, absolutely no problems or hesitation to start. Late in the afternoon, I stopped at one home for 15 minutes. When I turned the key to start the car everything went dead. Had it jumped and drove home; however, the radio would blank out several times per minute because it would only run while the alternator was running.
Once home, I tuned off the engine then immediately tried to restart it. Everything dead. Funny thing is that the battery still showed 12.5 volts with my battery tester. When the parts store put it on a load test, it dropped to ZERO. Bottom line, the original batteries seem to be P.O.S.
glad to hear i'm not the only one! thanks for recounting your experiences.
this week i've been tooling around in extra family car (a '95 saturn), and let's just say it ain't no z06....
i'll be picking up an optima red top this weekend--been meaning to do it for some time now, and this will certainly force the issue! don't care about warranty on the stock battery--i want to avoid stealerships under all but the most dire (and necessary) circumstances possible!
