Can you recommend a good performance brake pad that doesn't squeal on the street and what type of fluid should I use?Drive my '02 on the track and my stock pads are wearing fast. Also should I upgrade to braided lines?Really appreciate input.Kind regards

Air will make you pads last longer, get the DRM brake ducts, there are many good high temp brake fluids, but they must be changed more often, also good pads squeal that is the nature of the beast. Use ceramic for the street and Z06 or other race pad for the track. If you use a pad other than the Z06 pads get that dust off your wheels and car as soon as you can after the race.
Hi...
If you look in my corvette pictures you will see a few pics of my modded 95 M3 that Ive had for the last 4 years. One of the pics is the signature pic and has all the mods listed.
Ive had my Z06 now for about 4 months and although Ive done a few mods, nothing has been done to the suspension.
Unfortunately at this point I still can not make a comparision between the two cars on handling the twisties. Ive yet to really even begin to push the Z06 around twisties, and we have a lot of places to drive up here in Northern California. The Z has so much more torque and hp then the M3 that I have to take it very slowly when learning the handling capabilities of her.
The M3 on the other hand handles like a slot car through the twisties. With the mods that have been done to her, she dyno's at 242hp and 227lb torque. The Bridgestone pole position S03 tires make the car stick to the road like glue on this car. She's a lot of fun to drive and has a great throaty tone to the engine and exhaust.
I'm thinking that once I've learned my Z06 (a driving school in the near future) she will give the M3 a real run for the money and most likely surpass her in most every catagory.
Aldo
Hi Aldo - My former track car was also an E36 M3 (98)with alotta mods including coilovers and every Dinan power upgrade available shy of a blower no dyno records but around 280 rwhp.Tires of choice were Michelin PS's but the brakes were stock and this has led to my query as the M3 just stopped shorter.Overall IMO the ZO6 is a faster more powerful car but it is no quicker than the M3 on our local track/road course - what the M3 lacks in power it shines with overall balance but once again all the more reason for above average brakes.Learned today that GM performance offer an upgrade so will likely try that route.Since you are just starting with the ZO6,if I may,get rid of those stock tires asap if you want performance through turns especially on the street.I went to Toyo's T1-S's - major improvement - now the T1-R's are available and they are even better.Don't get me wrong the Z is a lotta car for the money and you can;t beat the sound of an American V8 - enjoy it!!
Appreciate your response - I'm not into different pads for street vs track - no time/no talent.Learned today from a colleague that GM performance offer an upgrade for the Z - any thoughts? What about braided lines - worth the effort/costs?
