Independence Day
When someone asks you what you are doing for the 4th of July, tell them you're celebrating Independence Day. Remind everyone to celebrate the day, not the date. When people call it the 4th of July, it doesn't draw up the same emotions and feeling of pride that Independence Day does (or at least should).

But thanking us today isn't sufficient. Actively supporting those who risk their lives today to protect us from terrorism is what's needed.
As you sit on your deck Monday, watching the ribs get all brown, think about those who're just hoping to get through the day without getting blown to bits. Send them care packages, DVD's and entertainment. When they come home, give up your seat on the plane for them. And above all, don't listen to those who encourage the Islamic Jahidists to keep fighting.
