I was ready to have my wagon wheels removed and their Z06 replacements put on, so I went in search of a qualified tire shop. Living here in Topuka, Ks, the only shop in town that could remove my old runcraps ( I'm using my old TPS), was one of the Goodyear service centers. Their tech assured me that they lifted C5s all the time. When I asked if they used jacking pucks,he had no idea what I was talking about. When I explained, he said "Oh, we use a 2X4 under the lift arms!"

...which is why I have the BMW pucks always snapped in place.
I guess that's what you get for having a C5 in Kansas. I bet he knows the right way to change a tire on a John Deere. (I think you put a 2x4 under the lift arm. )

This reminds me of a thread from a year or so ago. It was something like "What's the strangest thing you've been told by a Chevy dealer when you brought your Corvette in for service?" The replies ranged from, "So, what kind of car is this?" to "Do you want our free tire rotation?" The lesson there being take your Corvette to a dealer that knows Corvettes.
Anything that will prevent metal arms contacting the rocker will work - I've even used a folded-over piece of cardboard. There's nothing magic about the pucks - they are just a buffer between your car and the lift to keep from getting the paint scratched.
