Default Drag racing question

For those of you who trap around 114 mph in the 1/4 mile, do you have to shift to 4th or can you stay in third? Anyone know what mph 3rd gear at redline is? I never seem to know exactly where the track ends and have to shift to 4th right near the end but I'm wondering if this hurts my ET and whether I can stay in 3rd.

I have to shift into 4th right at the very end. I wonder sometimes if I need to stay in 3rd. I don't think you can on a 1/4 track. Anyone else?

You must shift to 4th. I can't recall exactly where 3rd ends, but it's close to 100MPH.

My rev limiter is at 7000rpms and I can stretch it to 105mph in third. I have yet to hit the limiter. So stock I would say 100mph is about it...

4th is a must.

3rd gear redlines at 103mph,so you most definitely would need to shift to 4th....unless you feel like trapping 103 mph bumping off the rev limiter.

Need 4th. The gap from 3rd to 4th is higher on an M12. IMO you realy need to be just bellow the rev limiter on your 3rd to 4th shift. If I do not hit it right at red line, I drop 1 MPH on the trap. Good luck!

Funny you bring this up, I am IMing with my brother and we just talked about this. He says he shifts at redline in third at 100mph. Unless you would change gearing you would have to shift in the qtr mile.
