Default deck lid not shutting?

I am having serious issues with the trunk release.
I did a search and see that everyone cant get the lid up.

I cant get mine to shut. it just bounces back up when I try.

I have the hit the trunk release 1 million times. hearing some sorry clicking sound.
When I tap the soleniod / servo thing. then eventually it will make a loud release sound like schjuuuutt!!!! and the deck lid will shut.

I lubed it with wd-40, no go. I cleaned it with a little bit of alcohol thinking it might be gummed up, nothing works.

I just spent a good 15 minutes screwing around with it to shut my lid.
I have spent 30 mins at 3:00 am because it wont shut.

anyone fix this? can I just buy a new solenoid?
maybe just say F-it and forget the fact it has a trunk?

There a lots of posts about trunk lids that do not pop up every time, and some solutions, like putting extra springs on the hydraulic lift.

As far as shutting the lid, if you are trying close it with all the doors and windows closed, it can take some force to close it and compress the air in the car at the same time. Try closing the trunk with the door open or a window partially down.
Same with opening, try popping the trunk with the door open.

Are you sure that the trunk latch is in the fully open position when you try to close the trunk? You may be correct that your latch is just broken.

If you think there is a problem with the solenoid that actuates the release, you might try pulling the manual release to see if that works. If the manual release does not work either, then I would just replace the latch.

Take off the vertical material that covers the latching / unlatching mechanism. Get someone to help by actuating the trunk release button so you can get your head in place to see what is actually not working correctly. May be as simple as adjustment or looseness. Were here for ya bro, don't give up. Did you do a search here to see if this has happened before? First time I’ve heard of a trunk lid not closing. Good luck.

My guess would be a broken spring...

Hey mad scientist... Long time no see. You should come out to Newbury Park on cruise in Saturdays. Were back at it again.

Steve we meet off of Wendy Drive every Saturday evening. We normaly are there at 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Just a bunch of hot rodders all types. Our corvette gang has a bit of a schedule scrunch. I'll be out of town this Saturday but the rest will be there. The following week were all going to be gone and the week after that some will be there. There is a car show up in Aroyyo Grande that Myself and others are going to on Saturday. Any hoot give it a try. Bring a chair. Here is the most recent post for it. Just keep looking in the Pacific forum for posts. Happy 4th....

I did some playing around with it over the weekend.
I removed the entire latch piece from the car.
I found an edge on the soleniod cover and stuck a small tipped screw driver in there, as soon as I lifted up on the cover very slightly it made the noise and released the latch. I think the solenoid has gone out, or it got smashed down somehow and the cover is putting too much pressure on it.
(It was backed into in a parking lot 1 month after I got it, the SUV cracked the bumper cover open)

So I bolted it back in and it released 4 times in a row. took it to the store and now it wont open at all, lol...
even when shutting the doors and pulling up on it.
then the column lock jammed up on me at the same store, so now I can say the dealer CL recall does not work either.

It's sitting in the dealer parking lot now.
awaiting to be unlocked, then deck lid fix, then I guess I am driving straight home and taking the day off work to do a the column lock bypass.
