Hi,
I am obviously new to the vette world, I am interested in purchasing a convertible in the near future but can use some help. Can anyone tell me (or point me in the right direction) of the differences, other than market value, between years 01'-04' (power, handling, reliability, etc...).
I believe that '03 is when the active handiling became a standard feature and not an option.
GM also upgraded the F-45 to F-55 ( magnetic ride) in '03.
Sorry man I can't think of any other differences for those years.
I personally feel that you should look at the cleanest, best maintained and lowest mileage car you can afford, irrespective of the model year, unless you are after a specific option like F55 which was only available on the '03 and the '04 or specific color.
Here's a link to a sticky at the top of the page that will tell you everything you want and didn't want to know about the C5.....
Some '01's have oil-consumption issues, but even that isn't really a big deal. I just had to choose between adding a quart a month or keeping it below 4000 RPMs... NOT a tough choice. Unless you REALLY want the magnetic ride selection, I don't think you'll find much of a difference other than price and color. Mine is Pewter which I think was finished in either '01 or '02. MSG (or Medium Spiral Gray Metallic) replaced it and is a GORGEOUS color... I'm sure the blues and reds changed in those years as well. Good luck on your search and welcome to the forum!
Hello and welcome. There is everything you need to know around here. Start a list of what ya gota have and don't care about. Look outside your area and without rushing- Its OK to travel to look at a car. When you find what your looking for it will all have been worth it. Drive a few local cars if you can. That may help with body style and transmission. Good luck.
Get an '02 coupe. Best year and best model of any Corvette ever made.
'02 was a good year wasn't it!
A lot will depend on how much money you have to spend and what options you definitely want on the car. Once you know that it should narrow your choices down to a year range and mileage with those options.
There's some great used C5's out there. Just found mine a few months ago by using the suggested links above and other posts on this forum for research. Don't be afraid to use the forum's SEARCH function. Very helpful for finding info quick. Keep in mind more options means more money and less mileage means more money.
