Rear Wheel Scraping Noise

00' Coupe A4 w/53K-After a spirited 2 hour cruise Saturday, a heavy downpour chased me home. My neighborhood streets had about a foot of standing water through which (about 2 city blocks) I idled home with no problem. Driving after the storm subsided, I started hearing a very significant scraping noise from the passenger rear side upon light throttle noticable from 5 MPH. Sounded like brake parts even though no noise during braking. Removed calipers & rotors, cleaned/adjusted emergency shoes and installed new pads. Fired up again last night and noise is still there. Pitch sounds too light or high for a wheel bearing (from my previous non-C5 experience) but I'm thinking it's either a wheel bearing or drive axle assembly. I checked the lube in the diff & it was clean & full. Anybody heard of similar?

Had same problem. Got GM add and Diff fluid and the scraping went away. When was your fluid last changed?

Right side - check the emergency brake cable - see if the coating has a shiny rub through. On some C5s the cable rubs on the inner wheel lip.

I had a similar noise when turning a tight circle (left or right) Turned out to be a galled pinion bearing and side carrier bearing. GM installed a new rear end.
