Default Questions on LS1 Edit...

Forgive the newbie aspect of this post, but I've seen a lot of people talking about good HP gains from the LS1 edit, but I've never seen an explanation of what it is. Can anyone enlighten me? Where would one have this done, and are there any detrimental effects on engine longevity? Thanks in advance.

For the long term I'll refer you to these forums for in-depth explanations:

www.HPTuners.com Hptuners scanning/tuning package

www.efilive.com/ EFI Live scanning/tuning package

www.carputing.com/ LS1 Edit tuning package

Those are three of the most popular tuning software/hardware packages for the LS1/6. The first two, HP Tuners and EFI Live, include two main functions. The first is a data scanning/logging tool by which you can collect data from the car as you drive and save this data onto a control module or directly into your laptop. The second function is a tuning program that you use the logged data to tune your PCM for optimum perfomance.

The third package, LS1 Edit, has been only a tuning tool to date but they are supposed to be releasing a new version with an integrated scanner soon.

Also, The first two include integrated wideband oxygen capability so you can use a WB sensor to collect A/F ratio data and incorporate that into the tuning. Here's a web page on my WB install for EFI Live.
