jackpot!63 it is!the 99 vette could be had in a fixed roof version similar in appearance to the c5 z06.Also,it was slightly lighter than your average coupe or vert,so it was a little faster. Now,i know that the 99 frc was a "scaled down"vette,lighter,etc...but A Z06 IT AIN'T!!!
Actually the proto type Z06 was a "99" Called the "Z-51 Lightweight" it was no Z06 but It was pointing the way! (very rare) When the Z06 finely did show up in "01" it was ALL over for every thing else!
Fixed roof coupe was introduced in '99. Same running gear as all C5's. Z06 was introduced in 2001 - definitely not the same as the coupe & vert. Kicks azz & takes names!
97 - C5 introduced as Coupe only - limited run 9,xxxx production run
98- Vert introduced
99- FRC (fixed roof coupe) introduced. Weighed 90lbs less than regular targa topped/hatch coupe. All FRC's had 6 speed manual and z51 suspension. Some options where not available on it - Hud, etc.
00- More options available for FRC but no performance changes
01-FRC no longer availble but Z06 replaces it, looks almost identical but has LS6 with 385bhp and I think some suspension changes
02- Z06 to 405bhp and suspension revisions (brakes too I think but this may have been done in 01)
