Default Local Chevy Dealer Does GREAT DEED!!!

Ok, So I took my dad to look at C6's at the local Chevy dealer... Low and behold, nothing there... all on order with a huge waiting list..

I took the '02 Z, so we would get better service (which we did ).. while I'm there, I figure I would go check out the service Department, to see if I was still under warranty to fix my broken driver's door lock (see post here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...1&forum_id=103 )

So I drive up to the service window, the Dude (service magager) comes out and asks me what I need... I explain the problem and he says, ok, lets check the vin and see if your under warranty... he asks me my mileage.. I tell him (4700)... he leaves.. comes back a few minutes later and asks me if I live in town.. I thought this was wierd.. then he says.

"well, your warranty expired in April of 05, but since you live in town and the car has such low mileage, we'd like to help you get this problem fixed, so just make an appointment, ask for me, and I will take care of it for you."

My jaw dropped and I got a huge woody!! ( )

Was at a loss for words..

So I made an appointment to come get my door fixed out of warranty, for free, under warranty!!

I couldn't belive it.. Kudos Chevy Repair Manager Guy!!!

Shout out to Three Way Chevrolet of Bakersfield...

PS: asked myself, "If I had pulled up in a Chevy Cavalier with same situation, would I have gotten the same treatment.." I knew the answer to that one!!

Good to hear. In spite of what you may read here, there are a few good dealers out there that do take care of their customers on occasion. Mine took it on himself to get authorization from the GM zone rep to replace the A/C compressor on my Silverado PU at no charge several months after it was out of warranty. He has since taken care of me several other times.

Nice to hear something good about a chevy dealer for a change.
Let us know how the fix goes.

Yeah, I have heard a lot of horror stories.. I have to drop her off. I hope she doesn't emerge with scratches or dings, or broken interior parts...

I am considering if its worth the risk of the potential damage that some of those guys can do, for a locking door... that I can just manually lock!!?!

If the door still locks manually are you sure your key fob just doesn't need to be reprogrammed or something simple like that? I am not a mechanic but that thought just came to mind.

Good luck on the fix!

I don't think that miracle will happen unless you get real lucky and you better not wait. With an expired warranty your chances are zilch.

That dealer obviously knows the value of customer service. They want you back as a customer, whether it be for service or a new car.

My dealer replaced my driver power window on my 97 Z-28 when I was past the 36 months but under the 36k, no charge.
My Vette has been in to them and never a scratch or anything negative happens. They lock up the Vettes at night inside.
One time it was in for a longer stay(long story) due to GM not shipping the parts, and they washed it and cleaned it up perfectly. Said that was the least they could do since the long wait for parts.
Bob Hook Chev in Louisville, KY is absolutely great!

I assume you answered yourself "yes", because that would be the correct answer. By an large the VAST majority of Chevy dealers are GREAT to deal with, and give EVERY customer the respect and service they deserve. Vette owners often bitch that they get bad service, or GMC sucks at service, IMO if they would treat the service people with respect, rather then zoom in with an attitude cuz they drive a vette, I believe they would find that the majority of service people will give them a break EVERY chance they can.

I would like to chime in about the great service manager at 3-Way Chevrolet. I bought my 98 used from Jeff in Baltimore Maryland with only 9000 miles on it. The day it arrived, via Intercity lines, I started getting that "Pull Key - Wait 10 Seconds" message. I tried installing a CLB but that didn't work, so I took my new baby down to 3-Way. They said their computer showed that the CLB recall had already been done by a shop in Baltimore, but he said they would look at it. Well, they called me back and said that the recall was not done properly and they would do it again free of cost. In fact, they were going to charge back the shop in Baltimore so I wouldn't have to pay for it. So my hat is off to 3-Way Chevrolet in Bakersfield.
