Default Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals

Does anyone have experience with this tire? They are very inexpensive ($650 for a set in Z06 sizes), and I was wondering how they performed. There were three reviews that were all positive so they can't be all bad can they. And does it really make much difference if your just going to burn em off anyways?

I've had 3 sets of Firehawks on my C4, and will be my replacement tire of choice as soon as I burn these factory meats down to the thread bar.

Haven't really seen any posts on these tires yet (they are so new I guess), but I wonder the same thing. I have a set of the Firestone Firehawks and have been very pleased with them.

Hello all
I have the wide oval since 3 weeks on the Z and I have a personal read on them:

-straight line traction is great
-rolling noise is in a range really correct for a tyre sport car
-vertical absorption of road disparity is a positive characteristic of the tyre
-reactivity to the asphalt change in moving from one line to another is smooth
-very predictible tyre at any speed
-definitively a great tyre for the rain, handling and braking
-high speed stability in straight line is very good

about performance:
-don't like to be loaded quickly
-don't handle lateral G as the Z can do
-poor traction exit of tight corners when HARD DRIVEN
-transition between end of brake release and turn-in is vague
-the limit at high speed in long corners is easy to predict but not really in high efficiency range
-too much movement from the side-walls when going hard on them

As a daily driver tyre, with this price, it is an improvement for my liking, if I had to drive on a road track I would forgot them, I don't know about drag racing...

For daily drivers there great , I bought a set from Corvette of Houstons and they had to talk me in to it and I'm glad the did. I don't think there good for drag racing . For the price they can't be beat.

I have them on my Z and I am more than please especially for the price. These tires hooked good at the track. I normally pull 1.9 60 foots on them so they are not that bad. Work good in wet weather and are a great street tire.
