Default Looking to buy first Corvette

I'm looking at a 2002 Corvette Z06. It has 31,000 miles on it. It's black with black interior. It's completely stock except for an intake. It's on
it's second owner. He's asking $28,500. What do you guys think? I wasn't actually looking to buy for another couple of months but it seems to me that it's a great price. I ran a carfax and it came back clean.

I just saw a 02' z at the local GMC dealership and they were asking $39,999! I thought that was crazy, but your price sounds GREAT!

Dealerships around here are always asking a rediculously high numbers on vette's. Most Z's I've been looking at lately have been in about the 31k-32k range. I hope I can pull this off! I really don't want to wait till september or october to get one!

Sounds like a good price to me. Offer him $27,500 and see what happens. Maybe he’ll comprise and take $28,000.

But you will have to join "black Vettes Anonymous." You will suddenly become acutely aware of how dirty your car can get from sitting in the garage. You will wax your car for hours only to discover that some people have huge fingers, at least judging by the massive finger prints left on your doors. Water spots, swirl marks, finger print smudges, it will drive you nuts.

I love my black coupe

I wouldn't trust CARFAX at all. Get a complete inspection.

I realize it's a different model, but my 02 coupe with 15000 miles cost 28k in March. I would say that the price for the Z06 is o.k. if the condition is good.

Default That sounds like a great price

I'm buying a 99 Pewter six speed coupe on Thursday, w 54.6 mi. for
24k, carfax report excellent, the seller bought it from Chevy Store in Portland OR, who got it from Florida, all maint. records are in order,
I feel confident this Vette is solid. Talk some more with seller, and you should be able to tell if the Car is a lemon or legit.
Congrads and good luck

ebubman: it's actually a private seller. The picture is of my car I sold last summer. 1997 Mustang Cobra to a 2002 Corvette Z06, I think that qualifies as an upgrade!

Crawfish333: I know what you mean! My last car was black and the thing was dirty five minutes after I washed it! Very worth it though when it is clean.

DaBoz: Trust me, I know all to well. My dad bought a car and had a carfax report on it that said it was never in an accident. Three years later I ran one just for fun and a wreck showed up on there from two years before he bought it. I have had a lot of experiences where it doesn't actually show what has happened. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a first step to learn some history on the car.

Also, if any of you know of another car comparable to this one in either Torch Red or Black, I would love to hear about it. It would be nice to have some options. I just can't spend more than 29k.
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks everyone and I'll let you know what happens.

That sounds like a pretty good price, just get a pre-purchase inspection. Black is the only way to go!

As long as it has had a good life, that price is great. Carfax definitely does not tell the whole story, so make sure to look it over really well.

Well I'm going to try. He has someone that's going to look at it tomorrow. If that doesn't work out then he is going to call me. I'm trying to see if anyone on the forum from Minnesota can go have a look at it for me since I'm going to have to fly out to buy it. Anyway, we will se what happens tomorrow. I don't have any question that it's what I want, and after going over my finances and talking to my credit union, I know that I can afford it and I'm pre-approved for the loan.
I hope this works out! I'm so anxious right now!!

I'd buy it! But, that is just me. Too bad that wasn't available when I was in the market.
