Prices can vary a bit between regions, so I don't know your market very well, but here's my take. The miles are kinda on the high side, & the asking price seems right if it had a bit lower miles. In the end it's your call what any car is worth to you.

BTW, basically you listed all the standard features of a Z, there weren't very many options available.

I traded in my 93 Coupe last July for a 2001 Quicksilver Z06. It is a totally different car!! I love it!! I miss my C4, when I see other C4's. Then I turn the key and forget about my C4. My 93 had 167,000 miles on it, so my trade in value was crap ($5,000). Some here may tell you not to get an 01 Z because of the oil consumption issues that some had. Mine does not have it. Get a GM extended warranty with it, just in case. My 01 was $ 32,000 with 13,900 miles. You will find the C5 much easier to work on, then the C4 (at least what I have done so far). Plugs and wires takes only 2 hours at a very leasurely pace. You can do it in about an hour after you do it once. Sure beats spending the day taking apart the C4 and bending your arms ways they are not supposed to bend to replace the wires!! One thing that I would get right off the bat is the CLB (Column Lock Bypass). Even with the recalls on the column locks, GM didn't get all the bugs out of it. The CLB takes that out of the equation. Most Corvette parts catalogs have them for around $ 50 to $ 80.

Just my opinion, that car is over priced. Do yourself a favor and take some time on the purchase. Look for a 02 or newer. I think a fair price on a 02 or newer (depending on mileage) would be around 30K.

Edit:

My car is a 04 with 25K miles. I wouldn't ask more then 37K for it. Just as an idea.

A fair price would be 25K. With the new Z coming out and the 02 models and higher having more HP I would haggle the crap out of him and offer 22K.

Good luck.

I KBB the car based upon your zip code.

I don't miss that at ALL!!
Take the Z for a test drive, if you have never driven one. You will be VERY surprised! I took two friends out who both own 96 C4's, right after I bought it. One of them was looking at dropping over $5k into his motor to try to get close to me. Now, he is looking at selling his 96 and picking up an 01 as well, that he found for sale by one of his customers. Take a look at your Mid America and Ecklers catalogs (and other ones you have, as a Vette owner, I know you have them littered around the house). Check out the C5 parts available. There is all sorts of junk you can put into them, so don't think that by getting a Z, you aren't going to start modding it.
Good luck!
Ask any questions you come up with. We are all more than willing to help you out!

p.s. See...the C5 section isn't too bad after all. I know what most of the C4 section thinks, as I used to be in that group too. Now, more and more C4 guys/gals are coming over. And, all the people here are really great too!!

YOUR RIGHT THE WIFE ALWAYS SAYS WHAT DO YOU NEED ALL THESE DIFFERENT CATALOGS FOR, I JUST TELL HER FOR PRICE COMPARISONS, BUT YES BY LOOKING IN THE CATALOGS CHECKING EVERYTHING OUT AS I DO YOU SEE A WHOLE LOT MORE MODS STUFF FOR THE C5 THAN THE C4. BUT NO I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE THAT CUTS THE OTHER YEARS I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN THOUGH I LIKE THEM ALL BUT I DO HAVE MY FAVORITE AND THAT IS THE 69 ONE DAY I WILL HAVE ONE I JUST LIKE THE DEPENDABILITY OF THE COMPUTERIZED RIGHT NOW THOUGH THE SAME LOT ALSO HAS A 97 LS1 6SPD (THE ONLY THING I WILL BUY) FOR 18,200 BUT IT HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT IS THAT A FAIR PRICE? IT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION A FEW MINOR SCRATCHES AND A LITTLE CURB RASH ON A COUPLE WHEELS (HARDLY NOTICEABLE)

If you are into vettes purely for the driving experience, hold out for a Z, any year. A friend of mine bought an 02 coupe, and then i got my 02 Z. After the first time I convienced him to take the top off, he loved it and tried to talk me out of getting my fixed roof Z06. Then he drove my Z. You could tell he was honestly disappointed , and this is a guy that doesnt even drive hard. If you enjoy DRIVING, wait. Im glad I stuck it out.

Good luck
