Default I need HELP!!

I need to buy a corvette! Yes, I said I need to. It's far past wanting to at this point. I just had one fall through because the guy sold it a day before I could get there. Anyway, I need suggestions for where I can find one. I'm looking on ebay, Autotrader, and here on the forum of course, but is there anywhere else you guys know of to look for them?
Unfortunately buying local is out of the question.

Thanks for any help!!

Dan

I would say try the forums
People here tend to take care of their cars...or atleast tell you when it has been raced.

Good luck, GREAT taste in cars. You know, yellow C5s are a little faster.

I know, I'd love to buy from someone on the forum. It's just that I'm looking for a very specific car and I can only spend a certain amount of money, so my options are kind of limited. By the way I'm looking for a 2002 Corvette ZO6 in TR or Black, with 35,000 miles or under for between 28k-29k dollars. I may just have to wait a couple more months till fall. But I can still hope to find one earlier right!?

If all else fails than I will just have to wait a few more months for prices to come down and to save a bigger down payment.

Dan.

I just checked for used c5 'vettes within 100 miles of Phoenix and there were far too many to screen. I found a half dozen convertibles - checking prices to see how mine is holding up - and many coupes. I filtered by MN6 as well. You are close enough to spend a week end or two down here searching and buying. Lots of private sellers and Extreme is local if you want a premiere place to check the car out. Try www.autotrader.com.

Now, new is a different matter. Use the forum.

Did you "just miss it" because someone else paid more. Really, buying a world class car at a bargain basement price isn't going to happen every day. Maybe in Utah. I truly believe when you find just the right car you should just pay a fair price to the seller and go for it. If you were selling it, wouldn't you want market value? If you screw around trying to steal the car, you'll never get a good one. Also, dealers aren't stupid. Well some are but most aren't. You are expecting to pay less than they are selling for at the auction. Why wouldn't the dealer just take it to the auction and get more money if he didn't want it anymore? They'd probably sell you a bad, abused Z06 for that price. Is that what you really want?

Ha ha. No, I just missed it because someone else got to it a few hours before I did. Actually in Utah they sell for higher, 35k and up, because there aren't many around. That's why I'm looking out of state in the first place. I'm looking to buy it from a private seller not a dealer because number one, I'll get a better price, and number two, I get to talk to the person that has been driving it. I hate to buy cars from dealers unless it's new because they are only in it to make as much money as possible and they have no idea how the car has been treated. Like I said before, I know that I'm probably going to have to wait a few more months, but I don't think that means that I can't be optimistic and keep my eyes out for a good deal. I obviously don't want an abused piece of junk, that's why I'm looking for one with low mileage. I also know that just because it has low mileage doesn't mean it was treated well. This isn't my first time buying a car.

anyway, thanks for the help that some of you have given me!
here's hoping I find one sooner rather than later,
Dan

Autotrader seemed to work the best for me. I think the advantage is that it lists dealers as well as private parties, and is probably the best known publication.
