I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a Corvette virgin who is C-wooped and just want the best for my baby. I have stock rotors that are rusty (Looks like shzznit) . Is this normal? Would I be fighting a losing battle by trying to clean them? Do after market rotors resist rust? If so which would you suggest I get. Thanks in advance, Mark
They all look like that if they get wet and then air dry...that goes away as soon as you start driving.
If you want aftermarket drilled /slotted yu can pick up a set for as little as $229 thru Sportbrakes.com...they are impossible to reach on the phone but if you order from them you get the product. I bought mine thru Nate at Corvette Garage (forum vendor) for a little more...then you can spend much more and buy the Baer Eradispeeds......most will show some rust/ discoloration after getting wet and air drying but some worse than others. Hope that helps
Sportbrake rotors are very good quality, zinc coated to prevent rust, and under $250 for a set of four. I get lots of compliments on mine. I live in Dallas where they are based and have been by to see them a couple of times. It's a small 2 man shop, they are very busy and hard to reach at times, but well worth the effort IMO.
try "racing concepts.com" -call and talk to them - let them know you are on the forum - OEM rotors and pads - drilled/slotted/zinc coated for about $300

After a wash or rain, the stock rotors will have a tendency to rust. On the swept area, once you drive the car and apply the brakes, the rust will go away. If the rust is on the hats of the rotors, then painting them will cure that problem.
You can buy rotors that are zinc washed and that helps prevent any rust from popping up. Try Sportbrakes - they are decently priced and look great. If you want to spend more money, you could try a brand like Baer Eradispeeds.
