Default Exhaust questions...

Hey, I just bought a B&B Bullet exhaust system, Bassani X-pipe and O2 sims, came as a package deal. Ok, Im pretty new at all this stuff so do I retain the catalytic converters when putting this system on? Would there be any advantage of taking the cats off? Would the exhaust be louder with/without the x-pipe? Come on help my ignorance.

i'm not 100 percent, but since nobody else has repsonded to your post, since the O2 simulators came with yopur package im assuming that your X-pipe is an offroad pipe meaning no cats. you'll still pass emissions b/c of the simulators. advantage of no cats is more power. exhuast will probably be a lil louder with the x-pipe but from what i've read about the Bullets....which im gettin on my Z...it'll sound awesome already. good luck man.

I think it's illegal(federal) to remove any cats on a street driven car, that originally had cats. If it's for a track only car, no problem.

You retain your stock cats, but you do cut up the stock H-pipe to install the x-pipe in the rear. Advantage to removing cats would be a little more HP and a lot louder and smellier(could be disadvantage), but would have to swap the cats back on for smog test and you run the risk of being fined by cops. I've thought about it on my 01 Z, but here in CA,it's not worth it. Just install what you have and be done and happy. It'll sound sweet!
