Default They May Move, But...I wanted to share my C6 experience

Well, I mentioned a week ago that I shipped my 2000 Coupe to Seattle for my transfer from Pearl Harbor. Well, I have been going nutz without my vette. Because it is black I am always spending time wiping off the dirt and dust, keeping my 2000 looking good!

Well, one of the officers on my submarine, USS LOS ANGELES, but a C6 and we talk vettes often, so I asked him if he wanted me to detail his vette. I love detailing cars, and have thought of doing this for cash, instead of just being nice. (That is a different story) He was interested and asked me what I would charge, I said, "Let me drive it!" He said I have duty tomorrow (meaning he had duty on a Saturday) and I told him I could come by the boat and pick up the key pad and drop it off later, when I was done. He agreed, only because I was a trusted vette guy.

Well, I went to the boat and picked up the key pad (no key, most of you know this). I walked up to the car, I had looked it over numerous times with him, but never alone and the car was so dirty. I was just asking myself, "How can someone let a beautiful and expensive car get like this?" I started it and it was so quiet compared to my nice BORLA and B&B Header setup. I shifted into first and drove away. When I got into it a little on base, I was "Wow, this has some power." So I washed the car and then drove it...and I drove it. The car's Z51 package was noticeable over my 2000 and the power and throttle response was very impressive. Now I did drive a 2001 ZO6 and from what I remember, the new Z51 package on the C6 was improved.

Well, the coupe of times I launched at a light, I commented to my buddy, "I just can't imagine what the C6 ZO6 will be like, if this car (his is bone stock) responds like this.

It was a nice ride, but I still perfer my BLACK on BLACK Coupe, because it is my baby, and I still can't get into the front facial look of the C6, but for the most part I enjoyed the drive.

BTW, I think, and my buddy agreed, the interior of the C5 is better!!

Just wanted to share,

Micah

Thanks for the support and I sure appreciate you and your troops over there, things on a submarine are done alot differently, so I thought it was appropriate to share my appreciation!

Micah,

Nice write-up, what...no pics of the detail job? I'm glad you got a Corvette fix to help with the withdrawals.

Is this J?

Well, I am driving my car cross country next month and should be in Charleston around the 20th of August. I am not due to transfer until December, orders got pushed, so my vette will be sitting at the house with my wife for a few months.

We should get together!

Yes it is,lol! I changed my forum name to NVTHIS when I got my Z06. The Pace Car has been gone since November of '04. Yeah, we need to get together sometime. I know you will be glad to get back. BTW, my forum name used to be J's 1998 Pace Car.
