Don't feel bad... I had a BMW M3 leave me standing still after we had climbed to about 85-90mph!!! The guy had NOS!!!! He had the jump from a rolling start once we left the stoplight and I was passing him... then bye bye sucka!

He needed all the NOS to get away from me!
All I have is a Twin K&N intake!

Just get a filter and if you have not yet, dump the Run-Flats. For 82K one gets only 12.89 . I run 12.9 with street tires with only a BlackWing and GoodYear F1GSD3's . Now that I have headers, watch out. You did the right thing not racing on the street. Always take it to the track. No excuses there just real results.

I get toasted all the time, no sweat. 911 Turbo held my toes to the fire, an AMG E55 removed my doors, and a AMG SL65 stripped the paint clean off my Vette.

There is always someone faster, and there are always better drivers.

I just enjoy the view of their taillights, and when I catch up, give them a thumbs up for having a sweet ride and for not being afraid to press the loud pedal.

Consider the money you'd have to spend to make up the difference between your car and $80k plus. Spend the difference on mods, then see what he'll do.

Cool seeing 'em perform, though.

I had a black MB flyby done on me, and all I saw was the chrome AMG badge on the back. I just laughed, and appreciated the fact that I could egg him on without realizing I did it!

I hear you re: price difference.

I'm just happy to see someone pay $180,000+ for a 604bhp AMG SL65 and actually drive it like they stole it, rather than keep it as a garage queen.

Thumbs up to them in my book

It's all good

Default my mod plans

need to fence our 1.5 acre, 40x60x16 metal shop, and landscape.
by then my LS1 will have about 85 to 90k, and ready to retire to be
replaced by an LS2, with supercharger, headers, and Bullets, then
my Silverado will need to be lowered, and 5.3 swapped out with an LS2, supercharged, headers and new wheels and tars.
By that time, I should be able to get a C6, and see what mods can be done to that

I ran across An E55, but was prepared and put one and a half car lengths on him from 60 mph up to 120. The Maggie scared him a little too!!

Bzzzzz!!! Wrongo!

A AMG SL65 puts out 604bhp stock - a C5 is 350bhp stock.

Just a little tiny difference.....

You will lose your doors - and other bodywork, my friend....

The MBs are speed governed though. The AMG E55 to 155, The AMG SL65 to 170, I believe, or a little higher.

Small comfort...

This is the same thing the guys on the WRX boards say when a Vette is faster than their AWD turbo STi. Those guys drop about $1,800 and they'll hold a 350 hp Vette to 100 mph. So don't kid your self thinking it's just the cars that cost $40,000 more than yours. The cars costing $20,000 less will give you a good run for your money in the 100mph and slower game... with a few mods.

lol, here we go again...some people are so delusional

helluva car but please...fastest? no...best handling? no...most comfortable? no...roomiest? no...best looking? no, but based on personal opinion so that doesn't count...most technologically advanced? no...best quality construction? ...best radio? ...most affordable? yes...HEY we get one yes! woohoo! that's the reason the vette is so loved, it's the best COMPROMISE available, great (NOT best) in every aspect and reasonably priced

ok, you can go back to your fantasy world and throw all the flames you want

1. You were not ready for it. If you were in a Mazarrati it wouldn't have made much difference.
2. You are driving a CLASS ACT car for it's price. The true American Sports car.
3. Who in the world wants to drive a **** footlocker?
4. The Corvette Tax is he;;, but the MB Tax is a Mammy Jammer.

Look at the money you would have to spend for that car. If money was no object, anyone could have the fastest car in town. Overall, the Vette is the best sports car especially in it's price class. Even in the higher price classes. Be proud of your American Made Car. Not only do you have a great car, but you saved some American jobs!!!

When I had my 99 Automatic Coupe an SL55 and I went from the lights for about 2-3 Miles. The SL55 never left me ( and I never left it).... but all I could think about was

"god...I'm in a $30,000 Corvette and he's in a 170,000 Benz"
