Same thing happens on mine when the sun comes down from the right angle. It goes away as I turn corners, etc. It doesn't happen very often.
I first noticed it after I had the car jacked up for a while outside. The back end was up really high, and I blamed it on that. Hasn't happened since that day, though.
My wife came in crying about the HUD being broken, it was fine, the sun can cause the display to go haywire at certain angles. It has only happened twice in 3 years of ownership. If it's screwed up at night/overcast day/rainyday you have a problem otherwise I would think sunlight is the cause.
If you are really worried about it, turn it off and wait for it to happen again. I believe the sun would still have the same effect even if the unit isnt on, but surely its just the sun.
It is definitely caused by the way the sun shines on the area. It has happened to me two or three times but will go away quickly when you change directions slightly. Don;t worry about it as there is nothing wrong with the unit.
