Default hud problem

im a new owner of an 04 machine silver metallic z-some dummy traded her in with only 947 miles ,my first vette<a dream come true!>-and also my first post here on the forum! thought id ask the experts, and sorry if i may be missing a previous thread on this subject.. anyway my ?-ive had the car for about a month now and today for the 2nd time i noticed that ,while driving, my hud went all bright, like if you take a lcd clock and press the screen, like its distorting--i tried to turn the hud off and it still showed up like it was still on -i could see all the readouts, everything, even in the off position.when i shut the car down and re-keyed it the hud was ok...has anyone else had a problem like this.and what should i do?wait and see if it happens again?or take it to a dealer,uggh--and part 2 of that, who knows the best dealership in tampa for corvette service?already had some discouraging experiences with a dealership here-need some help on this .... thanks-the baron

It sounds like you are describing what can happen when the sun hits the HUD a certain way.

Same thing happens on mine when the sun comes down from the right angle. It goes away as I turn corners, etc. It doesn't happen very often.

I first noticed it after I had the car jacked up for a while outside. The back end was up really high, and I blamed it on that. Hasn't happened since that day, though.

My wife came in crying about the HUD being broken, it was fine, the sun can cause the display to go haywire at certain angles. It has only happened twice in 3 years of ownership. If it's screwed up at night/overcast day/rainyday you have a problem otherwise I would think sunlight is the cause.

If you are really worried about it, turn it off and wait for it to happen again. I believe the sun would still have the same effect even if the unit isnt on, but surely its just the sun.

It is definitely caused by the way the sun shines on the area. It has happened to me two or three times but will go away quickly when you change directions slightly. Don;t worry about it as there is nothing wrong with the unit.
