Hey their I'm new to the board and will be purchasing my 1st vette after the 1st of the year. I have read some great info on the board, was wondering if there is a best year in the C5? from what I've read 2002 seems to be the year with extra HP and new standard fetures? Any info on this appreciated
Welcome to the Forum! I believe 2001 was the year that they had several changes. 5 more HP and more torque (for the 6sp I think) ls6 intake, better driveshaft and advanced active handling system. There are several more that somebody will remember and tell you about. What is usually recommended is buy the latest model you can afford. There are many low mileage well taken care of vettes out there. You just have to do a little looking and you'll find the right one for you.
Thanks a lot guys, I gotta tell ya waiting till next year is killin me!! but by waiting I'll be able to get the vette I want (within reason of course) right now I'm up in the air on the Z06 or convertible. I plan to drive the car daily for about 6-7 months out of the year. For a while my mind was made up, in that I wanted a convertible, but there something about the Z06 that makes me feel like once I drive that nothing else will do!! and it seems like the money is about the same for the two? Thanks again I look forward to continuing to read and learn from everyone experience on here.
Hello and welcome Start looking in your area. Drive as many as you can to help you decide what options you really want .
Start a list of what you want and whats not. They when you start looking - look for the newest lowest mileage car you can afford the way you wanted it. Look outside the box and plan on flying to inspect the car before you buy. It makes a great trip home if you find what your looking for. Its only a small price to pay if you have to fly home, if its not what you were told it would be.
Be carefull of dealers most don't know much about Vettes and only want to make a sale. There are many low miles cars around that have been well cared for. Best of luck your gona love it.
Welcome to you. In fact, I am a newbie, too. Moreover, you will also find advertisements to alert you to numerous and ever enjoyable Corvette enthusiast cars shows, caravans and racing events, and, so much more. Lastly, as CF fellow member "My1stpewter" has stated above, 2001 was indeed a pivotal year for the numerous C5 upgrades mentioned in that post. The C5 is an exceptional vehicle. May you enjoy the blessing of the C5 "permagrin".
