My poor C5...
Until i can get the correct gasket for my blackwing... i had to make a temporary substitution...
I took a cloth, and folded it up so it over lapped itself, and lined the inside of the filter port with it... then stuffed the MAF in it.
Has anyone done this before...? Im just hoping nothing is allowed to come through (ie. sand...).

I think I'll leave this one alone. You might try the Tech section.

Put the stock box back in untill you get the correct part.
Corvette's do not work well with Mickey Mouse mods.

I thought you used rags for lost gas caps?
How about going to Home Depot or Lowes and go to the plumbing dept find a rubber coupling. That should fix the problem and then lose the rag.

I bought a Haltech Stinger intake. My hood wouldn’t close properly with the larger air bridge that the Stinger came with, so I had to adapt the stock air bridge to the Stinger filter. I didn’t have a tight seal with the smooth coupler I adapted to the stock air bridge because they were both smooth rubber. I fixed the problem by wrapping some rough double-sided tape where the two surfaces went together. You can’t see a thing where I did this, and it made a nice tight seal. I don’t know if this applicable to your situation, but I thought I would offer it anyway.
