Has anyone used the Hypertech Programmer on their '97 Corvette?
I have a '97 Corvette with the following MODS
1. BBK CAI
2. Hi-Flow Magaflow Cats.
3. Magaflow X-pipe
4. ZO6 Ti mufflers.
My next mod that I want to do is have it Hypertech Programmed.
Would it be worth it at this time to do so.
Rsty
A buddy of mine tried to sell me his hypertech he uses on his 98 trans am.... He programed my car so i could try it out, and the only thing i liked about it was the increased rev limiter. I really didn't notice much of a difference for $300 thats for sure!
Don't do it! I installed it on my 97 vette and after that it had bad labor knock. I called Hypertech they asked if I had any performance parts on my car, I said yes headers, and Cold air intake system they informed me take it was not meant to be used with any other performance parts. What a JOKE. Show me where they tell you that in there ads. I removed it. If you live near west Ky You can stop by and I will give it to you FREE that's how good they are.

Hypertech is bad for your ride, don't ever use it.
I have personal experience, we down loaded the program after a dyno run and lost 15 rwhp on the next dyno run. The dyno curve was choppy as hell. Pulled the program out and the dam Hypertech locked down the PCM, had to get it reflashed.
Hypertech programers should never be allowed within 10 feet of your ride!

I bought a hypertech used on this forum for $100. I like the fact that you can change shift points and the rev limiter. You can also adjust the fan temps to com on earlier which helps out alot in the texas heat especially with a 160 or 180 stat. As far as the performance goes, you might get 10 hp and 15 torque gain if you are using non-rfg gas and a can of octane booster. Otherwise if you are using RFG highoctane the engine will knock like crazy and actually put out less horsepower than stock. In otherwords the performance function on the hypertech only increases timing, thats it and if you don't have the correct fuel with a little octane booster, you won't get jack out of the hypertech
I would rather invest in a Predator or LS1-Edit. I used the Hypertech on my 96 Impala SS when I changed gears. Performance wise I couldn't really tell the difference with the tune though...
