[FONT=Century Gothic][SIZE=4][COLOR=Red]Hi, just got my 01 coupe last week. It's silver with torch red interior, base model, base seats and HVAC, and mn6 manual. Anyone know how many of these were made? I haven't seen any around locally. I love the car, but had a hiccup. 2 days after gettting it, the column locked up. I thought this was unreal for a 23,ooo car(in excellent condition BTW), but after reading the horror stories here, i felt a little better(but not much). Anyways, had it towed to a dealer where the did the recall(unfortunately), and install a new lock actuator(they said the old one failed to unlock) which set me back 5 large ones. I aked the technician if this was going to do this again, and he replied, "this new one won't lock up again". Does anyone know of any "revised" lock actuators that don't fail anymore, or you think he is B.S ing me? BTW, I'm an ASE certified tech, and after hearing the stories on this great forum, I think he's talking out of his azz and I should get a CLB anyways. Sorry for the long letter, just sharing my story of my new vette! Max[IMG]
As you probably know, the recall was done, they just installed the relays, reprog the bcm, and "adjust lock cylinder clearance". The $500 was for the lock actuator(which they claimed it was not under warranty or recall), labor, towing, and tax.
Welcome to the forum. Nice looking car. The red interior pops. Sorry to hear about your column lock problem. That is something I've got to take care of myself before I get stuck with a large bill (or 2!).
