Is there any kind of screw on cap available to cover the antenna base
when the antenna is not being used? I rarely, if ever, use the radio and
would like to keep the antenna base covered, if possible. I actually
would prefer to remove the antenna base altogether, but I'm sure doing
so is more trouble than it's worth. Thanks.
Good question; I have been wondering the same thing. I can actually pick up radio signals without the antenna when I am in the local area.
It would be great to just leave the antenna off the car.

Home Depot sells a walnut cap that fits perfectly. It looks like it could be the top of a power antenna. I never use the radio and the fixed antenna made use of a cover difficult. Just take the antenna inside with you. They have a row of posts and you use the antenna to discover which post is the size of the antenna base on your car.

Actually they are called acorn caps, not walnuts at Home Depot. They leave no more hole than the antenna left.
Go to your favorite auto store and get a rubber cap for a vacumn hose line. I think you need a 5/32 cap.
A 7/32 cap worked great. I never would have thought a $1.69
modification (for a package of caps) could make such a difference; it
actually looks like a power antenna now. Thanks for the tip...
I never had my antenna attach, since I got my car, its ugly. Lately I been thinking about taking a dremel and just cut off the threads. But I might try, a vaccum cap, or accorn nut see what it look like.

I'll give that a try; it sounds like the answer. thanks for posting this question.
