Default ?Important Rubber Band?

I took apart my center console/ center molding piece to get at the stereo. when I lifted the piece off a broken rubber band seem to pop out. I have no Idea where this was connected too. Is this a vital piece? what does it do and where does (did) it go?

Thanks

This has been asked before and always the same answer. If it breaks don't worry.

I think it was used to shoot spitballs on the production line.

You need to replace it and wind it, when the car is in 6th gear it becomes active and will assist the motor in pulling the car to 200 mph.

Default The role of the rubber band

Wow, Since I removed it the following has happened:

1.) The car is now invisible to all radar/laser detectors
2.) the 1/4 mile time is now 11 flat
3.) Top speed is now 201mph
4.) The radio will now automatically play what I want to hear
5.) Milage has increased to nearly 50mpg
6.) dirt will not stick to the car
7.) Brake dust no longer appears on the wheels

I am kind of glad I broke it off
