The last couple of times I've started my car I notice the HUD oil indicator always defaults (comes on automatically) even if the fuel or temp indicator was on just prior to shutting off the car. According to the manual, the indicator showing prior to shut down, is the indicator that will come on when the car is started. I installed the HUD in my '98 about a year ago, and until now, has worked flawlessly.
I'm wondering if anyone out there has experienced a similar problem w/ their HUD and what can be done to correct the problem????? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....

last winter, my hud would default to showing everything every time i started the car in the morning-that was the first sign of a bad battery...also replaced with a red-top...no more problems....
Posts #2 and #4 hit the nail right on the head. Had the battery checked out (it was an Optima Red Top). It was putting out only 270 amps. Replaced the battery w/ a Group 78 Exide Nascar conventional battery and wholla---the problem w/ the HUD disappeared. Also had the charging system checked out--all was OK.
This was my 3rd Optima in 4 years. Good by Optima (forever)---hello Exide...
