The ring times are apparently official now for the new C6Z and base model C6. The rumor was the C6 matched the C5 Z06 in performance and equalled it at the 'ring, with a 7:56 time. WRONG. Not that anyone here doubted the C5 Z, the 2006 C6 has run a 7:59. That is the 2006 model, they claimed not to run the 05 model.. I hope this isn't a dupe, I didn't search too well but couldn't find anything immediate.
By the way, the C6 Z has run an impressive 7:43 SWEET!!
What's the source of this data? There is a lot of BS floating around about the veracity of these times, especially over in the C6 section where folks are looking at any source as gospel.
Apparently it's the "official" word now that was released on the 17th of this month. Again, not to start a he said she said thread but this looks like the real deal. More realistic than the "Dave Hill drove the C6 around the 'ring and lapped a 7:56"...
Let me see if I can provide the thread link, this should work: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...7&forum_id=100

Actually, they refute anything in print that states their car is slower
than the C5 Z06. However, if any publication, anywhere had ever
posted a faster time in a C6 than in a C5 Z06 in any timed event, then
they would have referred to that as gospel scripture. Now, they just
refer to times posted by actual owners and dismiss anything that any of
the car magazines ever printed.

I dont see why they cant just be happy to have a BASE model that performed almost as well as our TOP model.........Those C6's respond to cams very nicely....I still love my Z though.....I wouldnt trade it for a C6 but I would park a C6 next to it if I could afford too
