I had mine tinted a week ago, after telling him to baby my car and promising to hook him up, he carefully took his time, and even ripped off two window tints he started and restarted over again. He told me to come back in a week(which is today) to put on a black panel over the dots. I would never let anyone sand those off my car, sorry. I'll repost later today and let you all know if it looks good. max
Just had mine done on Monday - same story as everyone. They will occasionally use 2000 grit (extremely fine) sandpaper just to knock off the polished finish to 'help' get the film to adhear to it.
They told me those 'dots' are acutally made of Teflon®. They gave me same story. If they can't fix (after a few days), to bring it back in and they will replace like the top 3 lines with vinyl. Almost inevitable, because despite what both they and I did to smooth them out - didn't work - close - but not visually perfect.
Woud love to know how these so-called experts can do film only and cover all the dots with absolutely nothing showing through. Been using the same tint shop for nearly 25 years, and that discussion was first up!!

4) Paint the inside of the glass with black spray paint. Looks the best when done right but is a mess, overspray.
5) Go to someone who knows how to do it right.
Here's my window after 2 1/2 years. No vinyl, painting, definitely no sanding ... My brother owns a shop and has done countless others with the dot matrix ... more than plenty CF members car with the same result.

WOW!!!
Now that's exactly what I had in mind when I droped my Vette off the other day... I have an appointment set up for tomorrow morning back at the tint shop. We'll see how this ends up... You can be sure that I will be posting with the latest
Went back to the tint shop to discuss the scratches on my back window. They claim that the scratches were not caused by the sanding (surprise, surprise). They said the marks were probably always there, and are only visible now because of the dark reflective material behind them ( ). Needless to say my chances of having them replace my window willingly are nil (not sure it will be worth all the headaches and aggrevation to force them to remedy the problem). They did say they could try laying vinyl over the area, or even painting it... if anyone has pics of either of these solutions that would be great... I think I'll be starting a post to see how these methods look.

That's bad business on their part Joe. Sorry that's just IMO. But I hear ya about picking your battles
Laying vinyl is pretty common and I seen it done on other cars in the area. It actually doesn't look bad (as long as they can match up the seam right, it shouldn't be so visible).

Good luck.

Thanks Dave!
I think I would feel much more comfortable going w/ the vinyl as opposed to painting the glass. My only concern is what if the scratches are still visible using the vinyl... painting on the other hand, I know would fill in the light scratches. Unfortunatly I have never seen either of these... so I'm kinda confused as to what to do
"Hooked Him Up" Hmmm, so are we to assume the guy was stoned when working on the next car?
If he was, he musta had the goods, because he did an awesome job! If you want someone to do the job right and be xtra careful with your baby, sometimes you need to give them an incentive(in this case, I tipped him $10)
