He's out, but recommended West Coast Corvettes. Thanks for the info.

I bought the necessary stuff (longer stainless steel screws, spacers, rubber seals) at Home Depot for next to nothing. There was a write up on this, but I can't find it. maybe some else still has it.
It's no problem to do.

I don't remember where I copied this from but I saved it for future reference:
Flush Mounted Tail Lights

(6) 1" L X 1/2 W X .194" Hole Size Nylon Spacers
(6) 1/4" L X 1/2" W X .194 Hole Size Nylon Spacers
(8) #8 x 2" Zinc Pan Head Screws
(1) Frost King Rubber Foam Weatherseal 3/8" W X 5/16" Thick x 10' Long (Adheasive backed)(I got the black weather stripping)

Simply unscrew tail lights, clean, put weather stripping around the tail light (where the red casing meets the black casing of the light) insert new screws and spacers on back side, screw back into mounting hole.

-The two center lights get one 1" spacer on each screw.
-The outside lights get three 1/4" spacers on each of the outer most
screw
-The inner screw on the outside most lights get one 1" spacer.
-Fit so the weather stripping looks good and screw them back in!

1" spacers $4.77
1/4 Spacers $3.42
Weather stripping $3.98
Pan head screws $.98

Flush mount is easy. I have directions here somewhere let me look. Ok I can't find the directions on my work computer, but here is what I remember (hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm - it has been ove 1 year since I did it) .

I believe you need (you can get it a lowes):

8 - #8 (not sure if that is the right number) 2-inch long screws - make sure you get SS so they don't rust

8 - 1 inch acrylic spacers

1 - roll of 1/2 inch thick Marine Weather Stripping

Installation:

For the inner 2 lights. You remove the old screws and replace with the new screws and the spacers. You will see that the light now is out, there is a gap between the light housing ahd the tail lamp and the light wobbles. The weather stripping will take care of the gap and the light wobbling. You need to figure out where the light should go then run the weather stripping around the inside of the light housing so that the light will lay flush against it. It is hard to write it, but not hard to do. FYI - I think I I had to add more weather stripping to the bottom of the light housing to get a better flush fit.

The outer lights are a bit more difficult because I believe (if I have this right) the outer screw uses 3/4 inch spacer and the inner screw uses 1-1/4 inch spacer. What I did was cut the 1 inch spacer to 3/4 inch and used the left over 1/4 inch piece with the other spacer. Again you will need the weather stripping to stop the wobbling of the light and to get a better flush mount. The weather stripping has adhesive on one side so it is easy to work with and if you make a mistake just take it out and start over.

About $9 in parts from Lowes. Easy mod that looks great. I added a plug & play sequential tail light module from Web Electric

It's no problem to do.

It sounded like a simple and cost effective alternative.
