Well my new RPS clutch is in and I have been driving the car for 3 days pretty much nonstop. I have to say I love it so far. Obviously no hard launches yet (well not real hard anyway ) but around town driving (some spirited) both in traffic and on the E-way have been flawless.
The clutch engages nicely with absolutely no chatter hot or cold and came perfectly balanced so no vibrations. The peddle pressure is slightly beyond stock but very smooth and the aluminum flywheel it came with had very nice inserts on the surface area where the disk engages. I think Andy told me its like a $500 aluminum flywheel.
Anyway big thanks to Andy at A&A who helped me greatly and got me the clutch overnight (California to Illinois).
Man I was following your Clutch problems. Good to know its all good now. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for the install? Also, did you put a new master and slave?
Had mine in for over a week now and just crossed the 400 mile mark. The clutch is far superior over the C5 stock clutch and the feel at first was real hard, but has now become very manageable.
The car feels like it snaps now and there is no delay.
I have gotten the "Marbles in the Can" sound here and there and I also noticed that if I let the clutch out with the wheels turned and not much gas the car shakes. Another member told me the same thing. I think it was just from me getting use to the engage point of the clutch and learning how much gas to give it because it has not happen in the past miles.
Overall big to RPS clutch, but the track will be the real proving ground...
Dave I have an aluminum flywheel still, its just a better one than came with the McLeod clutch.
I have yet to hear any chatter or feel any shudder and the response time power to wheels is like instant.
I think the average for a clutch install around here is $500 to $700. I paid my $50 GMPP deductable only because I had some warranty work done as well and my contact at the chevy store put the clucth in free while the car was apart. I also had a new Z06 slave and master put in while it was apart.
