I just installed the column lock bypass from Thunder racing. Went in easily after I was able to locate the correct wiring. About 40 minutes total time. My question is...does the clb cause other problems after install...elsewhere on this forum there are threads that say that the clb can cause elctrical issures including damaging the bcm (whatever that is). Any body know for sure if this can happen?
I've had mine installed for over a year with no symtomatic problems. Other folks on this forum have had them for many years without problem. I've heard of a few people having problems after the install, but was the install done correctly in those cases???
It was on mine when I bought it 7 months ago, no problems. I don't remember reading many that have had a problem. The one's that have in most cases was a installation problem.
From what I've read, most of the problems occurred on the early C5's. I have a very early '98, and have had no issues with the CLB since installation. I couldn't get it installed fast enough after my column locked up.

Some 97/98 models get the "Pull key..." message after install. Mine did. No harm to the BCM because of it. Install was done correctly, the car didn't like the CLB (98 A4). Recall has been done so it doesn't matter anymore.
The only thing I recall ever reading was a post that was made about two years ago. A forum member was at a NCM event and there was a "GM engineer" there. When asked about the CLB, the member reported that the engineer replied that he wouldn't recommend installing one because of possible damage to the BCM (Body Control Module). We kind of surmised that this was simply a "taking the party line" response from the engineer who I'm sure was up to his eyeballs with column lock issues and may or may not have been familiar with the CLB. I've never heard or read anything other than this. Others may have more information.
