Default How much for tools needed to lower.

I'm wondering what i'd need and how much it would cost to lower my own. I have basic tools. I'm talking about a decent jack and stands, how many, how much, how long would it take, etc...

My local shop won't cut the front bushings and I want it slammed. They also want to charge $75 for just on stock bolts. Can I get a jack and a couple stands for less than that? WHat about some stops too?

Thanks in advance.

Craftsman 1.5 ton jack at sears. 2 ton jack stands. The jack goes for $100. Get a good jack that will last. You will also need 18mm and 15mm wrenches/sockets. I forget, is the front bolt 15mm or 10mm?

Don't buy cheap stuff when it comes to your safety - get a decent jack and some sturdy stands. Won't cost much compared to a cheap set failing on you.

Heck, I'd invite you over and do it for you if you were local.

Front is 10mm....remember to turn those counterclockwise. You should see more bolt sticking up when you are finished. The rear is opposite. Remember to support the leaf springs in front to take the tension off the bolt. Makes your work a lot easier.

EDIT: A little tip...I put a line of white out down the bolt so that I can see clearly when it has made one full rotation. Additionally, you may want to do something to help remember how many times you've turned the bolt. I got interrupted after a couple turns and forgot how many I had done. Was it three...or was it four...hmmmm? Maybe that's just me. I am a dope.

Post a note over in the SW section and let's see if we can't get a few of us together to do this with you. If you aren't doing anything on Tuesday night, come meet us at Cruiser's in Frisco for the evening and let's talk about slamming!
