Default One last lowering question before going down.

I have read every post on lowering and there is only one question that everyone has a different opinion, or I guess a better word would be experience. Ride quality, so how much will ride quality suffer do going down as far as I can on the stock bolts with the standard suspension? Will new shocks help?

I went all the way down on stock bolts and then went out and bought longer bolts for the rear. My guage as for the ride was...If the wife said it was to rough I would bring it up a tad. She has never said a word. DO IT NOW!!!!

I didn't notice any ride difference lowering on stock bolts. And thanks to the forum members, it was easy to do too!
However my front didn't drop as much compared to other guys so I ended up cutting the rubber heads off the front bolts and buying the longer bolts for the rear. That was pretty easy to do too.
After the second lowering I had an allignment shop add Baer adjustable tie rod ends to eliminate bump steer (from lowering) and do a Z06 spec allignment just to make sure everything was as good as I can make it.
Now I'm waiting on my Bilstein Sport shocks to arrive to finish off my suspension project.
Good Luck

I cut mine and did notice a rougher ride. But then again I only had it at stock ride for 3 days or so. If you lower it without cutting then you shouldnt notice anything.

The ride is a little stiffer, but not noticable to the point where you would say "I wish I never lowered it."

Go for it!

I guess I'm too old to appreciate lowering. What is there to enjoy? I drag bottom now, occasionally. Why would I want to drag bottom more frequently? Isn't the car low enough? Flame away at the old guy.

The car looks better when lowered. However, you do scrape the front a lot more. I've had to really re-train myself on how I enter driveways, speedbumps, etc... Just like any "mod" it's personal preference. If you want your Vette to look like an SUV, so be it! I could not stand looking at that massive gap in the fender wells. Also, I have noticed no change in ride quality whatsoever.

So long as you do nut cut your bushings, your ride quality should be fine.

I went as far as I could go on stock bolts and then cut my rear bushing about 1/2. The ride may be just a touch rougher but not much!
