Boom
Last weekend, while cruising along the highway at about 70 mph, I heard a "boom" similar to the sound of a tire blowing out. When I looked at the DIC it had a "service tire monitor system message". I pulled over and checked the tires with a gauge and they were all at correct pressure. The tires show no sign of damage. I reset the DIC and the pressures are all reading correctly. I have not noticed any problems since. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Must have been a nearby nuclear detonation that caused EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) effect which affected the circuits in the pressure sensors.

That's it! When I checked, the spare was gone. It must have blown itself right out of the car.

Could it have been from another vehicle - like a backfire, etc.?

There wasn't anyone close and it sure sounded like it came from my car. I was in the right hand lane and it was wooded on the other side of the guard rail. I suppose someone coud have fired a rifle (hopefully not at me). I thougt it was kind of strange that the DIC came up with a tire sensor error at the same time. I wonder if I hit some debris, could it knock out the tire sensor?
