Default Falken tires

Has anyone tried Falken tires? If so, what do you think of them? I'm running Goodrich now, but like the look of th FK451.

Got em on my car. They are great tires.. (TONS of bite)...

A little noisy though (but they all are).

I've got 255/40/17's on the front and 285/35/18's on the rear. I've had them about 8 months and they seem great.....especially considering the price!

I've only had mine for ~1k miles, but they seem great so far. Much quieter than the stock GY runflats.

It's been a while since I've spent much time in C4 Gen, but those guys use to bash the hell out of Falcon tires. You might want to post over there for their opinions. You'll find more Falcon tires being used on C4's than C5's. The way I usderstand it, is that they're only good for smoking. If I remember correctly, most of the complaints were based on poor grip, quick ware, and noise. I think most of the C4 guys (on a lower budget) prefer the Kumo's.

I haven't noticed anything too bad with mine.....there is no doubt they're better in every aspect than the GY runcraps that they replaced.

With that said though.....my next set will probably be Kumo's in Z06 sizes.

i dont run runflats or have any love for them

but come on guys stop comparing a worn out tire to a brand new one and saying its x amount quieter and its this much better

think about it
every tire post i read pitches pretty much every tire better than the runflat and thats jut not the truth

Hi 1vette98,

Greetings to you. Here is a little information regarding Falken Tires that may be of interest to you: Falken Tire has been in production and available to the consumer public for nearly twenty years. Falken Tires is the specialty performance division of the world famous Sumitomo Rubber Tire company. Sumitomo is one of the oldest leading tire manufacturers having originated well before the second world war.

Basically, the Falken Tire model line is an exceptional low cost value that yet integrates high level technology to provide important performance tire attributes such as, assymetrical and directional tread patterns, dry and wet handling, as well as, overall cutting edge design and quality, at a reduced cost.

For twenty years I have had many Falken tires installed in all my vehicles from sport sedans to IROC Camaro's, GTA 5.7L Firebirds, Trans Ams, Mustangs, and, even mounted on some of my beloved Corvette C4's and C5's.

And, for those of us who utilize performance vehicles as our daily drivers, I am continually amazed by the even tire wear and longevity that I am able to extract from the Falken Tire line. My daughter was able to obtain over 50,000 miles (with consistent and proper tire maintenance) on her Falken Ziex's commuting for four years to the University. This is extraordinary because the Falken Ziex's are a "Z-Rated" high performance tire, and, therefore, do not have the "mileage warranty" that a common traditional passenger sedan tire would.

The performance, cornering, and, wet and dry handling characteristics are more than acceptable. In fact, I like the directional tread pattern constructed into the Falken tire. Many other equivalent brands had larger and more "square bead block" tread designs that are conducive to high road noise and poor handling in wet conditions. Hence, I have kept with the Falken Tire as my low cost directional tread performance tire. Therefore as an o.e. tire size equivalent, Falken tires offer a great low cost alternative.

Best Wishes,
Eden

I just had a set installed today. I ordered them from America's/Discount Tire. I got all 4 installed for $620 by using a $25 coupon I recieved in the mail. So far so good. I have only put about 50 miles on them buy they ride much softer than my old Firestone RunFlats. I was trying to decide between the Falkens and Nittos and went with the Falkens. I don't think you can beat them for the price. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for all the responses. I know everyone has an opinion of runflat vs. non RF, but I am currently using non RF and have been really pleased. The price difference is what caught my attention. I know I won't get 80,000 on the vette like I did on my Tahoe, so if I can get a good tire for a good price, why not try it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Falkens the C4 area bashed were a different model.

I got 22k on them since I bought the car, and am just now getting to the wear marker on the back. Great traction, great price. Will buy my next set (275/40/17 front and 285/35/18 back) from DT. Wish they made a 295 or 305 18 for the rear....
